Reflecting on a Year of Impact: SustainaFest 2024 Highlights
What a truly amazing year! Thanks in large part to your support and encouragement, 2024 saw SustainaFest make tremendous strides on its mission to empower global change through storytelling and collaboration.
Following its world premiere at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery as part of the DC Environmental Film Festival in March, Back to Camp 41 captivated audiences across the globe. With screenings at 14 events, reaching over 45 communities across all seven continents, our film won awards, sparked meaningful dialogue, and resonated deeply with audiences. Each showing reinforced the profound legacy of Dr. Thomas Lovejoy, inspiring individuals to engage in the vital effort to protect our planet.
And Back to Camp 41 will march on. In Q1 2025, we’re executing a national online screening in partnership with Climate First Bank and Q2 will feature a screening and panel of world-class experts discussing the importance of biodiversity in the Chesapeake Bay restoration effort at the Chesapeake Bay Trust. And, at some point in 2025, the film will be made available through Waterbear, a global impact film screening platform often called “the Netflix for the planet.”
In more exciting news, we’re hard at work finalizing plans for Planet Lovejoy, our television series celebrating Tom’s legacy and bringing to life the far-reaching and impactful work of those who he has inspired. At a time when science communication and stories of hope are so critical, our research team is curating ground-breaking stories upon which we’ll raise the significant financial support needed to produce the series.
Your belief in our mission inspires us and we are so grateful for your support. And, while 2024 has given us so much to celebrate, we’re already turning our focus to all we need to accomplish in 2025. Together, we will create an even greater impact.
